What to expect
Before treatment, you will go through a full consultation, asking you various questions about your health and lifestyle, to ensure treatment is right for you.
Treatments usually take place on a massage couch. The techniques involved will include performance enhancement and or soft tissue damage prevention, restorative, event related and rehabilitative techniques.
The aim is to develop a treatment programme, including evaluation and monitoring, which takes into consideration the age, health, life style, physical capabilities or restrictions and previous exercise/sport history.
It is not unusual for you to feel some muscle soreness, aching or slight bruising as a result of deep manipulative therapy to the soft tissues (skin, muscles, tendons and ligaments) and this will pass as part of the recovery process.
Whatever type of massage you are having, you will be advised of what to expect before the treatment begins.
About Me
I’m not only a therapist I’m also a passionate endurance athlete. I have completed a range of demanding endurance events including ultra-distance running races, Ironman triathlon and long-distance cycling challenges, and I was proud to win the winter Spine Sprint race in January 2023.
Through my own training and competition, I understand the physical demands that sport places on the body; the fatigue, tight muscles and injuries that can come with pushing your limits.
My goal is to help people recover better, move more freely and keep doing the activities they love. Whether you’re training for an event, recovering from an injury, or simply dealing with everyday muscular tension, treatments are tailored to support your body and your goals.

Why Sports Massage Is Important for Active People
Massage is used by people for a variety of reasons. The general public are being continuously recommended to get up and out to exercise whether it is walking on soft ground for those with joint problems or speed and pressure exercises to build up cardio vascular improvement.
Regular sports massage can play an important role in helping active people stay injury free and perform at their best. Training, running, cycling and strength work all place stress on the muscles and connective tissue. Over time this can lead to tightness, reduced mobility and small areas of muscular dysfunction.
Sports massage works by targeting these areas of tension. Techniques such as deep tissue work, trigger point therapy and assisted stretching help release tight muscles, improve circulation and restore normal movement.
Improved relaxation.
Minimal muscle tension.
Higher range of movement.
Scar tissues improvement.
Better recovery by raising blood circulation to the affected spot.
Mitochondrial development, which is the power station for muscle.
Many athletes include sports massage as part of their regular training routine. It can help improve recovery after hard sessions, reduce the risk of injury and keep the body moving efficiently.
The Benefits of Sports Massage for Runners and Cyclists
Running and cycling places repeated strain on the muscles of the legs, hips and lower back. Over time this can create tightness in the lower and upper leg muscles including the glutes, which may affect performance and increase the risk of injury.
Sports massage can help release these areas of tension and improve flexibility and range of movement. By improving circulation and reducing muscular tightness, massage supports faster recovery between training sessions.
As an endurance athlete myself, I understand the demands that running and cycling place on the body. Regular treatment calms the nervous system down, helps to keep muscles functioning well, reduce the chance of niggles developing into injuries and allow athletes to continue training consistently.
Sports massage can be helpful both during periods of heavy training and as part of recovery after races and events.
How Acupuncture Can Support Recovery and Pain Relief
Acupuncture is a treatment that involves inserting very fine needles into specific points on the body to stimulate natural healing processes. It has been used for many years to help relieve pain, improve circulation and restore balance within the body.
Many people are surprised by how gentle acupuncture is. The needles used are extremely fine and most clients feel little to no discomfort during treatment.
Acupuncture is often used to support the treatment of:
• Muscle and joint pain
• Sports injuries
• Headaches and tension
• Stress and fatigue
• Chronic tightness or inflammation
For athletes and active people, acupuncture can be particularly helpful when dealing with persistent muscular tightness or injuries that are slow to settle. It works by stimulating nerves, improving blood flow and encouraging the body’s natural repair mechanisms.
As someone who trains and competes in endurance sports myself, I understand how important recovery and injury prevention are. I am currently training in acupuncture as part of my continued professional development and look forward to offering this treatment in the future alongside sports massage.
